This 5 year old I know, W, will be getting some wiggly teeth soon. W's mom, Amy, asked me to make some sort of tooth pillow for him to store the tooth in over night. The ones she has seen in stores were girly and tooth shaped. I found a tutorial for a monster pillow here. The only issue was that this pillow was only 6 inches square. I thought that would be too small. Amy and W decided to just leave the tooth pillow next to the bed on the table, so it needed to be big enough for the Tooth Fairy (after which will be formally referred to as T.F.) to find. Here is what I came up with:
The pillow body is 10 inches by 10 inches. The mouth is a pocket for T.F. to leave the goods. I used left over black and white felt for the eyes and teeth. After making the pillow pocket, I realized that T.F. would spend a lot of time looking for W's tooth because the pocket is 3 inches by 10 inches. I decided after everything was sewn together, to add a tooth pocket.
The tiny pocket is made of silk from a thrift store tie. I hand stitched the silk directly onto the body of the pillow. By the way, W LOVED his monster pillow. Now we wait for the teeth to get wiggly!
